Trish is a practicing Licensed & Certified Athletic Trainer, working just about every sport out there for the past 3 decades. The past 20+ years have been focused on non-traditional sports including action sports from bmx, motocross, skateboarding, snowboarding, etc as well as martial arts like taekwondo & karate, and performance arts including cheerleading, dance, trampoline, slackline, parkour & aerial, along with all types of parasports.
She is the owner and medical coordinator of Bare Essentials Sports Medicine. She began volunteering with sport Taekwondo in 1989 when it was still "USTU." She created her company in 1994 after realizing Taekwondo needed a more consistent and organized Event Medical Team than it had.
Her Doctoral Dissertation Research at the University of Florida focused on forces created by Taekwondo athlete's foot kicking the head correlating with head injuries in children and adults, which lead to the creation of Jr Safety Rules in Taekwondo. Prior to this full force kicks to the head were allowed for any age.
Trish is a pioneer in the sports medicine community and continues her career running her business and working as the full time athletic trainer for the Ringling Brothers Circus.
